"The King and I"

Julie and Ben Kingsley starring in the recording of "The King and I"    (1992 studio cast).

Julie came to London to launch the CD without Ben . It took place at a fashionable hotel in central London. Julie arrived with  John Mauceri (Hollywood Bowl Orchestra). Julie talked about what a joy and privilege it was to have been part of this recording. Then the press left and the party started!

Julie, John, and Jane Asher admiring the cake.

The cake (bottom right)!  Thai inspired food and music met us and also a surprise appearance of Jane Asher - actress and also a famous cake baker. She had made an enormous Thai inspired cake as it by midnight would be Julie's birthday. So we wished Julie a "Happy Birthday" and she said "Thank You" - little did she know that we were to meet again in less than 12 hours...

Next day we met up with Julie at the Dorchester Hotel - Julie's favourite hotel in London. We were not the only one that she was giving interviews to but she looked great and seemed to be in a good mood.

Jose' interviewed Julie for a movie magazine and Ernesto and myself were the photographers - it was a bit embarrassing as our cameras hardly qualified as professional cameras. Anyway, we did get some lovely photos of Julie and when the interview was over daughter Emma joined us for a  final photo. Jean and her daughter also met up with Julie as we were leaving.
